Safety
The Tidal Current Surface Crawler and the Wind Stream Sails technologies can be fabricated in a shipyard and towed to the deployment location. Installation, Maintenance, replacement of modular components, and Decommissioning can all be achieved from small surface vessels.
All components are lubricant-free and devoid of surface contaminants. The medium for energy conversion is direct mechanical power-takeoff. The deployed TCSC & WSS would be precisely displayed on navigation charts and clear of conventional fishing grounds.
Survivability
By selecting non-toxic components (many are off the shelf) that are resistant to corrosion and fouling, survivability is easily achievable. Deployment would generally be in proximity to bodies of land that generate tidal currents, and as such would avoid most open ocean extremes.
